Ostrich eggshell, about the size of a cantaloupe, 7" tall. Beeswax resist and dye. Red stars in bands across the barrel of the shell. This is the second in a 12 part series to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the nation. Elsbetha marks the faith and hope the Founders had to separate from everything they knew to start a new nation from 13 colonies. Using traditional motifs from pysanky that symbolize faith and hope, I wrote an artwork in Americana colors displaying their commitment to the future.
